Nonprofit: The National Education Foundation (NEF) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, headquartered in metropolitan Washington, D.C. Founded in 1989, after consultations with national leaders including former President Bill Clinton and Intel founder Dr. Gordon Moore, NEF is the world's leading nonprofit organization bridging the employment, digital and academic divides by providing high quality affordable 21st Century online education to millions of students and jobseekers in many countries including the U.S., India, Egypt, Jordan and Mauritius. NEF offers 3,000 high quality online courses and mentoring using state-of-the-art LMS (Learning Management System) and interactive video platform.

Mission: To bridge the academic, digital and employment divides by providing disadvantaged students and jobseekers significant educational and economic opportunities through high quality affordable online education, thus empowering them to gain 21st century skills, and thereby enabling them, their families, communities and entire nations to thrive and live in a world free of poverty and terrorism.

Projects: NEF fulfills its mission through the following projects:

1) CyberLearning Academy (www.cyberlearning.org) provides 21st century skills for disadvantaged students in math, science, technology, business and testprep to close the academic and digital gaps. The goal is to set up a CyberLearning Academy in most disadvantaged schools in the U.S. by 2020.

2) CyberLearning (www.nefuniversity.org) provides workforce training solutions to close the skills gap. The immediate goal is to train one million U.S. jobseekers in Stimulus (ARRA)-related jobs in 2010.

3) NEF International provides academic, digital and workforce training to disadvantaged students and adults in many countries including India, Egypt, Jordan and Mauritius (training the entire population in digital literacy.)

  • Advisor to many national and world leaders including President Obama"s team and U.S. Congressional leaders (on the 2009 Stimulus), former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi (in helping to make India a global IT power) and Mauritius Prime Minister (on transforming Mauritius into an IT-focused nation)
  • Author of many innovative concepts such as MBS (Management By Systems), CyberLearning, Total Tennis, Win-Win-Win, Holistic Executive, Kuttan Preschool (Mind-Body-Soul Life Style Development) and acclaimed books such as "From Digital Divide to Digital Opportunity"
  • Philanthropist who donated most of his personal funds from the sale of the World-famous Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy to the National Education Foundation (NEF), described as a "Dedicated Difference Maker;" 2006 Global Digital Literacy Champion
  • Mentor to many including world tennis champions Andre Agassi and Monica Seles

  • Thirty years of experience in higher education, healthcare and technology including substantial experience with IBM, a variety of health care and technology enterprises, and the Web 3.0 interactive secure video platform development
  • Former CIO of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
  • Author of "The Patient Will See You Now" (2009) series, a view on the future of healthcare, featured weekly on the CISCO website
